Beet tops with sorrel for winter

Do you grow beets in the country? Then be sure to use this recipe! Beet tops with sorrel are a universal preservation. It can be served as a salad, used as a filling for pies and added to soups.


  • Beet tops - 1 kg
  • Sorrel - 500 g
  • Bay leaf - 2 pieces
  • Citric acid - 0,5 tsp.
  • Sugar - 50 g
  • Salt - 25 g
  • Water (cleaned) – 1,2 l

Step-by-step cooking recipe

Wash beet tops and sorrel, chop.

Boil water, add sugar, salt, bay leaf and boil for 2 minutes.

Add the tops, citric acid and cook for 5 minutes.

Add sorrel and cook for another 2 minutes.

Spread out in sterilized jars, roll up and wrap up for a day with a warm blanket.
