At the beginning of the last century, Michurin managed to artificially breed black gooseberries. The berries turned out to be sweet and sour with a slight astringency and grape flavor. I advise you to make jam from black gooseberries. I share the recipe on duty.

Ingredients

  • Gooseberry (black) – 3 kg
  • Sugar - 1,5 kg
  • Citric acid - 0,5 tsp.
  • Water - 250 ml

Step-by-step cooking recipe

Prepare the gooseberries and put them in a deep saucepan.

Cover with sugar, cover with a lid and put aside for 3 hours.

Add water and boil over low heat for 5 minutes.

Add citric acid and boil for another 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Put the jam in clean, dry jars, roll it up, turn it upside down and wrap it with a thick towel.
