When there is no bunch of greens at hand for preservation, you can prepare delicious tomatoes for the winter according to this simple recipe. For this preparation, I use tomatoes of the “Cream” variety - they are dense and retain their shape well during the preservation process.
Ingredients
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Wash the tomatoes, cut into quarters, removing the stalks.
Peel the onion, cut into half rings, pour boiling water over it and put it in a colander.
Place peppers and prepared onions on the bottom of pre-sterilized jars.
Fill the jars with tomatoes, put a layer of onions on top.
For the marinade, combine water, salt and sugar, mix and bring to a boil. Then add the vinegar and boil the marinade for 1-2 minutes.
Pour boiling marinade over tomatoes and onions in jars.
Cover the jars with sterile lids and send them to be sterilized in a pot of boiling water (the water should reach the “shoulders” of the cans, the sterilization time for 0.5 l cans is 5-10 minutes from the moment the water boils in the pan).
After sterilizing the jars with the workpiece, roll them up immediately, turn them upside down, wrap them up and leave them to cool completely. Store the Finnish tomatoes in a cool, dark place.
