Pickle is very rarely cooked on pork. Usually it is giblets, chicken or beef at most. But I suggest not to dismiss pork completely and try this option. Just do not spare the time for a rich broth.

Fill the pork with water and cook for about an hour over low heat. Strain the broth as desired.

Send the pearl barley to the boiling broth and cook according to the instructions. 10 minutes before the end, add the chopped potatoes.

Chop the onion, cut the carrots and cucumbers into small cubes, and add to the soup when the potatoes are cooked.

Season the pickle and boil for another 5 minutes.
