An old British dish is, in fact, an ordinary potato casserole with meat. Once it was made only with minced meat, but you are free to experiment. The secret is that instead of dough, the filling is covered with a layer of mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- Chicken fillet - 2 pieces
- Potatoes - 800 g
- Garlic - 2 cloves
- Butter - 70 g
- Flour - 3 art.l.
- Milk - 700 ml
- Cheese - 100 g
- Mushrooms - 300 g
- Italian herbs - 1 tsp.
- Spices and seasonings - 1 tsp.
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Boil the potatoes until tender, add to it 20 g of butter, 100 ml of milk and crushed garlic. Puree everything until smooth.
Cut the mushrooms into plates and fry them until the moisture evaporates. Cut the chicken into cubes and also fry separately with spices.
Melt the remaining butter in a frying pan and fry the flour on it until brownish.
Gently pour in the milk, stirring constantly. Add spices and Italian herbs to the same place, and simmer for a minute.
Put the mushrooms and half of the grated cheese in the sauce, and mix.
Spread the chicken in a baking dish and pour the sauce over it.
Cover everything with mashed potatoes on top and cover with the remaining cheese.
Bake the pie for about 35 minutes at 180 degrees.
