Classic compote for winter is berries, water and sugar, and nothing else superfluous. But this does not mean that nothing more can be added there. For example, a couple of years ago I started constantly adding fragrant herbs, and I have never regretted it.

Step-by-step cooking recipe
Wash the berry and put it in sterile jars. Pour boiling water and leave for 10 minutes under the lid.
Drain the water, add sugar to it and bring it to a boil again.
Put all the herbs and citric acid in jars.
Pour the syrup over the berry and roll up the compote.
