As you know, the Japanese dessert mochi is prepared without baking. In the process of cooking, housewives use a microwave oven. But what if you don't have a microwave or turned off the light at the most inopportune moment? Let's cook mochi in a water bath.
Ingredients
- Rice flour - 120 g
- Sugar - 90 g
- Milk - 210 ml
- Butter - 15 g
- Corn Starch - 30 g
- Cocoa - 2 tbsp.l.
- Strawberries (for filling) – 4 pcs.
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Combine flour, starch and sugar in a bowl, add cocoa powder, mix.
Pour milk to the dry ingredients, mix the mass until smooth.
Cover the bowl with the dough with cling film and send it to a water bath. Brew the dough, stirring occasionally, for about 20 minutes.
Add butter to the resulting dough, mix and leave to cool completely.
Sprinkle the table with starch, divide the dough into 8 equal parts, roll out small tortillas, put the filling in the middle of each tortilla, for example, half a strawberry. Close the edges and form neat round balls.
Sprinkle the finished mochi with starch or powdered sugar and serve to the table.
