This recipe of Tatar baursaks will appeal to lovers of lush and fragrant homemade pastries. In Asian countries, baursaks are a mandatory dish of a festive meal. I suggest you prepare this unusual treat for an evening tea party with your family.
Ingredients
- Flour - 1 kg
- Dry yeast - 4 g
- Sugar - 100 g
- Butter - 125 g
- Water - 300 ml
- Condensed milk - 200 ml
- Vanilla sugar - 5 g
- Salt - pinch
- Baking powder - 0,5 tsp.
- Vegetable oil - for frying
- Powdered sugar - for decoration
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Mix softened butter, warm water and condensed milk in a bowl. Add the yeast and mix well.
Prepare the dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, sift the flour, add salt, sugar, vanilla sugar and baking powder, mix.
Combine the liquid ingredients with the dry ones. Knead the dough first with a spoon, then knead with your hands on a table sprinkled with flour. It should turn out to be a moderately soft, elastic dough, with a consistency resembling dough for dumplings.Cover the dough with cling film and leave to rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours.
When the dough has risen enough, divide it into equal parts and roll it into sausages 1-2 cm thick. Cut the sausages into identical pieces of square or round shape.
Fry the baursaks in a cauldron on hot vegetable oil, turning them over periodically, until a golden crust forms (about 3-5 minutes). Fold the finished products with a slotted spoon onto paper towels to remove excess fat.
Cool the finished Tatar baursaks, sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve to the table.
