Despite the fact that vegetables are the main ingredients, the Hungarian salad cannot be recommended to vegetarians. The thing is that it is prepared on lard. If you don't have such a product, use fresh lard.
Ingredients
- Bell pepper - 2 kg
- Tomatoes - 1 kg
- Onion - 500 g
- Smalets - 100 g
- Vinegar - 80 ml
- Ground red pepper - 0,5 tsp.
- Bay leaf (ground) – 0,5 tsp.
- A mixture of peppers with peas - 1 tsp.
- Salt - 60 g
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Prepare vegetables and cut into pieces of any shape.
Melt the lard in a deep saucepan.
Add the onion and fry until golden brown.
Add bell pepper, spices and cook for another 10 minutes.
Add salt, add tomatoes and simmer all together for 20 minutes.
Pour in the vinegar, mix gently and remove from the heat.
Put the salad in sterilized jars, roll it up and leave it warm for a day.
