Candied watermelon crusts have only one drawback – they are hard to find. Otherwise, they are very tasty, fragrant and perfect for a cup of tea. That is why I want to share a proven recipe for cooking such candied fruits on my own.
Ingredients
- Watermelon rind - 1 kg
- Sugar - 1.2 kg
- Water - 750 ml
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Cut the watermelon rind into pieces.
Fill them with water and boil for 10 minutes after boiling. Flip it into a colander.
Mix the remaining water with sugar and bring to a boil.
Put the crusts in the syrup and leave for 12 hours.
Bring to a boil again and cook for 15 minutes on low heat. Leave to cool for another 12 hours. Repeat this step again.
Flip the candied fruits into a colander and let drain.
Dry out on a baking sheet and store in a dry place.
