Step-by-step cooking recipe

Peel the herring, cut into pieces and put in clean jars. Add spices and salt.

Put them in a pot of water in a water bath, cover the pot with a lid and leave a small gap for steam.

Bring the structure to a boil and cook the herring for 5 hours on low heat, adding boiling water if necessary.

Roll up the jars with lids.
