If you have not cooked cucumbers in this way, I strongly advise you to try. This is our interpretation of the traditional American recipe. Cucumbers turn out crispy, spicy and at the same time quite sweet. They are good to add to salads, burgers and pizza.
Ingredients
- Cucumbers - 1 kg
- Onion - 2 pcs.
- Mustard Seeds - 2 tbsp.l .
- Anise (seeds) – 2 tbsp.l.
- Black Pepper (peas) – 0.5 tsp.
- Turmeric - 0,5 tbsp.l.
- Apple cider vinegar - 400 ml
- Sugar - 2 glasses
- Salt - 3 tbsp.l.
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Wash cucumbers, cut into circles about 0.5 cm thick.
Peel the onion and cut it into thin rings.
Combine the prepared vegetables in a bowl, add salt, mix well and put under pressure for 3 hours. Then put the salad in a colander and rinse under running water.
In a saucepan, mix sugar, black pepper, turmeric, mustard seeds and anise seeds. Pour vinegar, bring to a boil and boil over low heat for a couple of minutes.
Put the cucumbers and onions washed from salt into the boiling marinade, mix gently and bring to a boil again.
After boiling, pack the cucumbers in pre-sterilized jars and pour the marinade to the top. Roll up the jars immediately, turn them upside down, wrap them up and leave them to cool completely. The cucumber snack will be ready for use in 3 weeks. It can be stored at room temperature.
