If you cook shawarma yourself, then you are free to choose the filling to your taste. For example, try to exclude meat and cook mushroom shawarma. I assure you, it will turn out very satisfying and delicious. In addition to tomatoes, you can add pickled onions, cabbage and pickles.

Chop the mushrooms and peeled onions.

Melt the butter in a frying pan, add the onion and fry until golden brown.

Add the mushrooms and cook for 5-7 minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently.

Add salt and pepper and turn off the heat after 1 minute.

Grate the cheese, cut the tomatoes into plates.

Spread the pita bread on the table, smear with mayonnaise and mustard.

Lay out the fried mushrooms, tomato slices and cheese.

Turn the sides inside and roll the shawarma.

Fry the finished shawarma on the grill for 2-3 minutes on each side.
