During the Soviet Union, no student feast was complete without herring pate for sandwiches. The snack was prepared from available ingredients that were sold in the store for mere pennies. Let's get a little nostalgic today!

Step-by-step cooking recipe

Peel the herring from the skin, gut it, cut off the head, fins and tail.

Cut the fish lengthwise, remove the ridge and bones.

Peel the onion from the husk and finely chop it.

Place herring fillets, melted cheese, onions and boiled carrots in the blender bowl. Grind to a homogeneous consistency.

Add salt and ground pepper to taste. Mix everything well again.
