For herring lovers, there is another interesting recipe — herring under a fur coat with pickled mushrooms. Mushrooms can be bought in the store or pickled to your liking. For me, store-bought ones are too salty, so most often I cook them myself.
Ingredients
- Herring (low salt) – 1 piece
- Beetroot (boiled) – 250 g
- Champignons (pickled) – 200 g
- Potatoes (boiled) – 200 g
- Carrots (boiled) – 150 g
- Onion - 2 pieces
- Chicken eggs (boiled) – 2 pieces
- Mayonnaise - 180 ml
- Salt - to taste
- Ground black pepper - to taste
- Greenery (for decoration) – 1 twig
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Peel the herring, gut and cut into small pieces. Chop the onion and mushrooms. Grate the eggs and other vegetables on a grater.
Put a layer of potatoes on a wide dish, season with salt, pepper and generously smear with mayonnaise.
Make the following layers from herring, onions, eggs, mushrooms and carrots. Add salt, pepper and mayonnaise again.
Cover the salad with beetroot, smear with mayonnaise. Decorate with egg crumbs, herbs and remove to stand in a cold place for 1.5 hours.
