Have you ever tried herring under a fur coat in Estonian? It is necessary to fill in this gap, especially since it is very easy to prepare such a salad. Pickles are added to the usual ingredients, and sour cream and mustard dressing is used instead of mayonnaise.
Ingredients
For Salad:
- Herring (low salt) – 1 piece
- Beetroot (boiled) – 350 g
- Potatoes (boiled) – 200 g
- Pickled cucumbers - 2 pieces
- Chicken eggs (boiled) – 3 pieces
- Onion - 1 piece
- Greenery (for decoration) – a couple of twigs
For refueling:
- Sour cream - 300 g
- Mustard (acute) – 0,5 tsp.
- Sugar - 0,5 tsp.
- Salt - 0,5 tsp.
- Ground black pepper - to taste
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Peel, gut and finely chop the herring. Chop the onion, grate the eggs and other vegetables.
Mix mustard with sour cream, add salt, sugar, black pepper and knead until smooth.
Put layers of herring and onion on the bottom of a wide dish, grease with dressing.
Mix cucumbers, eggs, beets and potatoes with the sauce and place on top of the onion.
Flatten the salad, garnish with herbs and put it in the refrigerator for 1.5 hours.
