I want to share with you an unusual version of pea soup – with sauerkraut. There are similar recipes in German, Czech, Hungarian and Polish cuisines. Don't forget to add spices to taste and sprinkle it with herbs when serving.

Boil the pork until tender, set aside and strain the broth.

Soak the peas in advance, and then boil in broth until soft.

Add the sliced potatoes and cook for another 5-7 minutes.

Chop the onion and grate the carrots. Fry until soft, add sauerkraut and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Add turmeric to the roast and send it to the soup.

Cut pork, bacon and smoked meat into the same place.

Cook everything together for another 15 minutes and season.
