Wash the peas and soak for 2 hours in cold water.
Rinse the peas again and transfer to a large saucepan.
Add allspice and black pepper, pour in the broth and cook for 1 hour over low heat.
Chop the smoked pork, peeled potatoes, onions and carrots.
Fry onions and carrots in oil until golden brown.
Pour in the pork and continue cooking for 4-5 minutes. The meat should be slightly browned.
