Classic croissants in France are usually baked without filling - they are perfect on their own. For such croissants, it is better to use homemade puff pastry. If you decide to take the purchased dough, add a filling to the pastry, for example, from cottage cheese or chocolate.
Ingredients
- Puff pastry (frozen) – 1 kg 300 g
- Cottage cheese - 100 g
- Milk - 1,5 tbsp.l.
- Sugar - 70 g
- Vanilla sugar - to taste
- Chocolate - 50 g
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Defrost the finished frozen dough at room temperature. Sprinkle the table with flour, roll out the dough layers slightly. Cut the dough into triangles with a base of about 10-12 cm. Stretch each triangle slightly with your hands.
For the filling, combine the cottage cheese with sugar, mix until smooth. If desired, add vanilla sugar.
Put the curd filling on each triangle of dough, roll it into a bagel, starting from the base of the triangle. Lubricate the surface of croissants with beaten egg yolk.
Bake the croissants on a baking sheet covered with baking paper in a preheated 200 °C oven for 25-30 minutes.
Melt the chocolate in a water bath and pour it over the finished, slightly cooled croissants. Serve with your favorite jam or butter.
