If you are going to cook borscht, but there were no beets at home – it does not matter. An excellent option can be prepared without it, although the color will not be so saturated. I tell you what vegetables you will need for this, and at the same time I will share a couple of tricks.
Ingredients
- Beef - 350 g
- Carrots - 2 pieces
- Onion - 1 piece
- Tomatoes - 2 pieces
- Tomato paste - 2 art.l.
- Potatoes - 400 g
- Sauerkraut - 250 g
- Spices and seasonings - 1 art.l.
- Garlic - 3 clove
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Boil the beef over low heat until tender for about an hour.
Add sliced potatoes to it.
Finely chop the remaining vegetables. Fry the onion and carrot for 2-3 minutes.
Add tomatoes, and after another 2 minutes – sauerkraut.
Fry a little more, add tomato, spices, crushed garlic and half a broth, turn down the heat and simmer everything under the lid for 10 minutes.
Put the roast in the borscht and boil everything together until the potatoes are ready.
