Today I will tell you the secret of making “dry” plum jam in the oven. Follow my simple recommendations and surprise your loved ones with an unusual, fragrant, spicy delicacy. Lovers of plum desserts will definitely appreciate it. A cup of hot tea is what you need!
Ingredients
- Plums (pitted) – 1 kg
- Sugar - 300 g
- Star anise - 2 asterisks
- Ground cinnamon - to taste
- Nuts (any) – optional
- Pumpkin seeds - optional
Step-by-step cooking recipe
For “dry” jam, I recommend taking dense fleshy plums. To begin with, rinse the plums, remove the stems, dry them slightly. Then cut the fruits into halves and remove the bones.
On a baking sheet covered with baking paper, put the halves of the plums cut up tightly to each other, sprinkle the fruits with sugar and cinnamon, put the stars of star anise on top. If desired, you can put a nut or pumpkin seeds in the half of each plum - so the “dry” jam will become even more piquant and unusual.
Send a baking tray with plums to a preheated 200 °C oven for 30-40 minutes to boil. Then reduce the temperature to 40-50 ° C and continue to dry the plums for 8-10 hours in convection mode. If there is no fan in your oven, bake the plums with the oven door ajar. At your discretion, you can leave the plums slightly moist or let them dry until the moisture completely evaporates. The immediate cooking time will depend on this.
Put the dried plums in a clean jar and store them in the refrigerator. “Dry” plum jam is an unusually delicious treat for tea, and it can also be used as a filling for sweet pastries.
