Russian housewives were engaged in sauerkraut in the old days. Then barrels were used for this, now smaller volumes are preferable. Today I will tell you how to cook crispy sauerkraut in a jar. The recipe is proven, so success is guaranteed.
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Chop the cabbage into thin strips.
Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.
Mix the vegetables in a wide saucepan or bowl. Add sugar, salt and mash with your hands.
Spread the billet into jars, tamping it well with your fists, and leave it in a warm place for 1 day.
Close the jars with nylon lids and transfer to a dark, cool place. In a week the sauerkraut will be ready.
