The first candied fruits were cooked in ancient times by the Arabs. Then they had to be dried in the sun. Now, fortunately, everything is much simpler. Let's cook delicious candied apples today. They can be stored in hermetically sealed jars for up to 1 year.
Ingredients
- Apples - 3 kg
- Sugar - 2 kg
- Citric acid - 0,5 tsp.
- Water - 3 l
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Peel the apples and seeds, cut into cubes.
Boil water, add citric acid and sugar. Boil for 5-7 minutes.
Add the apples, boil for 2 minutes and put aside for 1 hour.
Boil the apples again for 1-2 minutes and leave to cool for 1 hour.
Repeat the procedure for the third time.
Fish out the apple slices with a slotted spoon and spread out in a thin layer on a baking sheet covered with baking paper.
Dry for 3 hours in the oven at 60 degrees. From time to time, turn the apple slices with a spatula or spoon.
Cool the finished candied fruits, put them in dry jars and close the lids tightly.
