Gooseberry compote with orange quickly “flies away” during the winter holiday feasts. Children and adults are delighted with him. Delicious, fragrant, with a pleasant citrus sourness, this homemade drink is a good alternative to sodas and store-bought juices.
Ingredients
- Gooseberry - 200 g
- Water - 750 ml
- Sugar - 100 g
- Orange - 4 slices
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Pick the gooseberries, cut off the tails, rinse under running water and dry slightly.
Place the prepared gooseberries in a pre-sterilized jar.
Cut the orange together with the peel into slices, remove the bones. Send the orange slices to the gooseberry jar.
Boil water and pour boiling water over the contents of the jar. Cover the jar with a sterile lid and leave to warm up for 15 minutes.
Then drain the water from the jar into a saucepan and bring to a boil again. Pour boiling water over the contents of the jar again, cover with a lid and leave for 10 minutes.
Drain the water from the jar into a saucepan, add sugar, bring to a boil and boil over low heat for 2-3 minutes. Pour boiling syrup over the gooseberries and oranges in a jar to the very top. Roll up the jar, turn it upside down, wrap it up and leave it to cool completely. Store the cooled compote in a cool dark place.
