Homemade tomato ketchup for winter through a meat grinder
Today I want to share a recipe for ketchup with mustard. Not quite the usual ingredient for this kind of sauces? Nevertheless, it turns out very tasty and quite piquant. And homemade ketchup to taste and benefit definitely can not be compared with store-bought!
Ingredients
- Tomatoes - 1,5 kg
- Onion - 100 g
- Vegetable oil - 2 tbsp.l .
- Vinegar (9%) – 1 tbsp.l .
- Salt - 0,5 art.l.
- Sugar - 1,5 tbsp.l.
- Mustard powder - 1 art.l.
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Peel and finely chop the onion, fry in preheated vegetable oil until golden brown.
Wash the tomatoes, remove the dense middle, cut arbitrarily, then pass through a meat grinder. If you want to get rid of the seeds, you can additionally rub the mass through a sieve.
Combine the tomato mass and fried onion in a saucepan, stir and cook over medium heat for 20-25 minutes.
Add dry mustard, salt and sugar, mix well. Boil the workpiece for another 10 minutes.
A couple of minutes before cooking, pour in the vinegar, stir and remove the saucepan from the heat.
Pour hot ketchup into pre-prepared sterile jars, seal tightly and cool. Store the cooled sauce in the refrigerator.
