Chop mushrooms, tomatoes, cabbage and peeled onions. Grate the carrots on a coarse grater.

Fry onions and carrots in oil for 5 minutes.

Add tomatoes, black pepper and simmer for 15 minutes.

Separately fry the mushrooms for 10 minutes.

Mix both blanks in a deep cauldron, add salt, cabbage, water and simmer for 30 minutes.

Pour in the vinegar, stir and immediately remove from the heat.

Put the hot hodgepodge into jars, roll it up and turn it upside down.
