White kvass is an ambiguous drink, with many variations and cooking recipes. Unlike traditional dark kvass, there is no yeast in the composition of white kvass. This is the best natural drink to quench your thirst on a hot day! Kvass is also ideal for okroshka.
Ingredients
- Water - 3 l
- Rye flour - 100 g
- Sourdough (rye) – 100 g
- Sugar - 3 tbsp.l .
- Salt - to taste
- Horseradish (optional) – to taste
- Mint (optional) – to taste
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Pour rye flour into a three-liter jar.
Boil water and pour boiling water over flour in a jar. Mix well and cool until slightly warm.
Add sugar and rye sourdough. At this stage, you can optionally add horseradish and fresh mint, if you want to get a more refined version of the drink.
Leave the drink in the jar for a day in the heat. As a result, the kvass will become carbonated and sufficiently saturated, and the sediment will remain at the bottom of the jar.
Filter the drink through 2 layers of gauze and pour into bottles or cans. Add a little salt to the finished kvass and send it to the refrigerator for storage.
Important! The leavened grounds (what is left at the bottom of the jar) can be used to prepare another portion of the drink.
