Borscht can be perfectly cooked not only from meat or chicken. And for example, sprat in tomato! This recipe is quite popular in the Baltic countries and is certainly worth your attention. Especially if you like variety.
Ingredients
- Water - 2.5 l
- Canned fish (sprat in tomato) – 1 bank
- Cabbage - 300 g
- Potatoes - 3 pieces
- Carrots - 1 piece
- Tomatoes - 1 piece
- Bell pepper - 0.5 pieces
- Onion - 1 piece
- Spices and seasonings - 1 tsp.
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Finely chop the onion and grate the carrots. Lightly fry and add finely chopped pepper.
Add peeled and grated tomatoes to the same place. And a minute later sprat in tomato. Simmer all together for another 5 minutes.
Cut the potatoes into cubes and send them to boiling water. Boil until tender.
Add chopped cabbage to the potatoes and boil for 5 minutes.
Add the roast with sprat, season to taste and cook for another 7-10 minutes. Let the borscht brew.
