Ketchup can be made not only from tomatoes! This simple recipe will help you prepare an unusual sweet and sour berry sauce. Today we will prepare a spicy homemade ketchup from... gooseberries! Ideal for meat dishes and baked poultry. Gourmets will definitely appreciate it!

Ingredients

Step-by-step cooking recipe

Pick the gooseberries, rinse, fill with water and boil over low heat for 10 minutes after boiling. Then rub the softened berries through a fine sieve.

Return the berry mass to the fire and, with minimal heat, stirring occasionally, simmer for 30-40 minutes.

Peel the hot pepper from the seeds and finely chop. Chop the garlic.

Wash cilantro, basil, celery leaves and horseradish, dry and finely chop.

Add salt, sugar, chopped herbs, crushed garlic and hot pepper to the boiling berry mass. Mix well and boil the sauce for another 10 minutes.

Pour the boiling sauce into pre-sterilized jars, seal tightly, turn upside down, wrap and cool. Store the cooled workpiece in a cool, dark place.
