A jar of canned vegetable salad with herring is a full-fledged dish that will help out in any situation. Guests are on the doorstep, and there is not enough time for cooking? Surprise your family with an unusual dinner? Just open the jar! For potatoes - perfect.

Remove the head, tail and fins from the herring, clean the fish from the skin, bones and insides. Wash the fillets and cut them into thin long strips, roll them into rolls.

Wash the vegetables well, peel. Cut the onion into cubes, grate the carrots and zucchini on a coarse grater.

Pour a small amount of vegetable oil into a cauldron or a large saucepan, put the grated vegetables, add salt and simmer over low heat for an hour.

Then add salt, sugar, seasoning for fish soup (optional), tomato paste, vinegar and prepared herring. All together, cook for another 1 hour.

Place the workpiece in pre-prepared sterile jars, roll up and leave to cool at room temperature. Store the cooled cans of canned salad with herring in a cool dark place.
