Cut the apples into quarters, peel the seeds, cut into slices.
Mix water with citric acid.

Drain the water, put the apples in a saucepan and cover with sugar. Cover with a lid and set aside for 4-6 hours.
Boil three times for 5 minutes, taking breaks for 8-10 hours.
