Among the recipes that can already be confidently called classics is orange peel jam. Sweet, slightly tart and incredibly fragrant! Moreover, it is the thick crusts that are needed, and not the thinnest top layer of zest.
Ingredients
- Orange - 6 pieces
- Sugar - 600 g
- Water - 600 ml
- Lemon juice - 2 tbsp.l .
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Remove the peel from the oranges, cut into strips and soak in cold water for a couple of hours. Change the water periodically.
Roll the crusts into a spiral and put them on the thread with a needle.
Fill them with water, boil for 20 minutes after boiling.
Drain the water, pour clean, and repeat this procedure 3 more times.
Pour 600 ml of water to the crusts and add sugar.
Bring the syrup to a boil and cook for about half an hour.
Allow the workpiece to cool to room temperature.
Add lemon juice, boil again and boil for half an hour.
Roll the jam into sterile jars. You can leave the thread or remove it in the process.
