Thrifty housewives always have dumplings and cabbage rolls in the freezer, and the pantry shelves are full of salads, stewed meat and canned soups. Continuing this topic, I would like to share an excellent recipe for dressing for borscht without cabbage. Add spices, herbs or garlic to your taste.

Ingredients

  • Beetroot - 1 kg
  • Carrots - 200 g
  • Onion - 200 g
  • Vegetable oil - 50 ml
  • Vinegar - 50 ml
  • Ground black pepper (without slide) – 1 tsp.
  • Sugar - 1 art.l.
  • Salt - 1 art.l.
  • Water - 2 l

Step-by-step cooking recipe

Prepare the vegetables and chop them finely.

Fry the onion in oil until transparent.

Add the carrots and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently.

Add beetroot and ground pepper. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes.

Mix water with sugar and salt, pour into a cauldron with vegetables. Simmer under the lid for 40 minutes.

Add vinegar and turn off the heat after 2 minutes.

Put the borscht dressing in sterilized jars and roll it up.
