It is difficult to imagine a full-fledged winter feast without fragrant pickles. You can cook them in different ways, using new combinations of vegetables and even fruits every time. Today I will tell you a recipe for sauerkraut with beets. It turns out beautiful, crispy and very tasty!

Ingredients

  • Cabbage - 2,5 kg
  • Beetroot - 500 g
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp.l .
  • Salt - 1,5 tbsp.l .
  • Water (boiled) – 1.5 l

Step-by-step cooking recipe

Chop the cabbage and peeled beets.

Put the vegetables in an enameled bucket or a wide saucepan.

Mix water, sugar and salt.

Pour the brine into a bowl with vegetables, cover with a lid and set the oppression. The workpiece should stand for a day in a warm room, then transfer it to a cool place for 10 days.

Arrange the sauerkraut with beets in prepared jars, close tightly with nylon lids and put them away for storage in the basement.
