A neighbor once told me this recipe. It was at her place that I tried gooseberry jam with lemon for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised by the tart taste and refreshing citrus aroma. I'm sure you'll be thrilled too!
Ingredients
- Gooseberry - 2 kg
- Lemon - 1 piece
- Sugar - 1,5 kg
- Water - 250 ml
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Scald lemon with boiling water and dry thoroughly.
Remove the zest, cut and squeeze the juice into a separate bowl.
Put the gooseberries in a saucepan with a thick bottom.
Cover with sugar and leave for 2-3 hours.
Add water, lemon zest and boil for 5 minutes.
Remove the pan from the heat and leave for 1 hour.
Bring to a boil again, pour in lemon juice and boil for another 5-7 minutes.
Fill the sterilized jars with hot jam, roll them up and wrap them well with a blanket for a day.
