Cut the herring fillet and onion into small pieces.
Grate boiled vegetables on a coarse grater.
On a wide dish, lay out layers of herring, onions and potatoes. Season with salt, pepper and mayonnaise.
Add a layer of carrots, add salt and pepper again.
Mix beetroot with pepper, salt, mayonnaise and put it on top of carrots. Flatten and remove the salad for 1.5 hours in the refrigerator.
