Onion is one of the basic ingredients of the classic Jewish forshmak. You can take a regular onion and put it through a meat grinder. Or you can use a bright purple onion and chop it finely – for taste, color and texture at the same time.
Ingredients
- Herring (fillet) – 3 pieces
- Purple onion - 2 pieces
- Coriander - 0.5 tsp.
- Spices and seasonings - 1 tsp.
- Chicken eggs - 2 pieces
- Vinegar - 1 tbsp.l.
- Olive oil - 1 art.l.
- White bread - 2 slices
- Apples - 1 piece
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Soak the bread in water, and boil the eggs hard.
Grind herring, eggs, bread and peeled apple in a blender until smooth.
Finely chop the onion and add to the forshmak.
Add all the spices, vinegar and oil there, and mix.
