Traditionally, Americans cook a large turkey in the oven on Thanksgiving. This dish is perfect for any other holiday, if there are a lot of guests in the house. The easiest way to cook it on an onion pillow!
Ingredients
- Turkey (2.5-3 kg) – 1 carcass
- Purple onion (large) – 3 pieces
- Garlic - 6 teeth
- Olive oil - 3 tbsp.l.
- Mustard - 1 art.l.
- Salt - to taste
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Wash the turkey thoroughly and dry it with paper towels.
Peel the purple onion from the husk and cut into large pieces.
Peel the garlic cloves and lightly crush them with the handle of a knife.
Rub the turkey with salt, brush with mustard and olive oil. Cover with cling film and leave to marinate at room temperature for 1.5-2 hours.
Grease a baking sheet with oil, lay out the onion slices thickly, add garlic cloves.
Put the turkey on an onion pillow and send it to the preheated oven for 1 hour.
Gently flip the turkey to the other side and continue cooking for another 45-60 minutes.
