Baursaki is a traditional Central Asian dish similar to our donuts. It is not difficult to prepare, the ingredients are uncomplicated, and there are many options for serving. Baursaks are ideal for a family tea party, and will also be an excellent alternative to bread.

Step-by-step cooking recipe
Prepare the sourdough: to do this, mix warm milk, yeast and sugar in a large bowl. Mix well. Leave the sourdough for 15-20 minutes until a fluffy cap is formed.
Add vegetable oil and salt to the sourdough. Stir until smooth.
In the resulting mixture, stirring constantly, add flour in small portions.
Remove the dough from the bowl, sprinkle with flour and knead with your hands until smooth. The dough should stick slightly to your hands.
Cover the dough with a towel and leave to rise for about 1 hour.
Gently knead the dough with vegetable oil and leave it to rise for another 30 minutes.
Prepare the dough for rolling. To do this, sprinkle it with a small amount of flour, roll it into a flat cake about 1 cm thick and cut out the circles with a small glass. Cover the dough mugs with a towel and leave to rise for about 10-15 minutes.
Heat a large amount of vegetable oil in a cauldron or deep saucepan.
Fry the baursaks in preheated oil on both sides until a golden crust forms.
Put the finished baursaks on a paper towel to remove excess fat.
You can sprinkle the products with powdered sugar or serve with sweet syrup, or you can leave them fresh.
