When it's cold outside and it gets dark early, you want more comfort: open your favorite book, make tea and enjoy homemade cakes. I offer you a simple recipe for yeast pies with potatoes in the oven!
Step-by-step cooking recipe
Mix warm water, dry yeast, salt, sugar and 1 tbsp flour. Cover with a towel and put away in a warm place for 10 minutes.
Sift flour into a wide bowl. This will get rid of lumps, debris and saturate it with oxygen.
Add half the vegetable oil, sourdough and knead a soft dough.
Put the dough in a bowl, sprinkle with flour, cover with cling film and leave for 1 hour in a warm place. During this time, it should double.
Peel the potatoes, cut into cubes and boil in salted water until tender.
Drain the water, add the butter and mash with a masher until pureed.
Lubricate your hands with oil, and knead the dough again.
Pinch off small pieces, the size of half a fist and form balls.
Roll out each ball into a thick tortilla, lay out a little filling and seal it like dumplings.
Hide the tails inside, give the pie a beautiful shape and put it in a greased form. Repeat the steps with the rest of the dough and filling.
Brush the finished pies with yolk and leave to rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
Bake the pies in a preheated 180 degree oven for 25-30 minutes.
Carefully remove from the oven, sprinkle lightly with water and cover with a towel for 15 minutes.
